Some causes of water pollution are man made and some are natural. Natural disasters can contaminate many resources of water by clouding the water.
Man made causes of water pollution are much more serious such as oil spills, factory wastes, trash, marine dumping, sewage and waste water, and eutrophication. Oil spills can kill many fish and cause bird feathers to become wet and matted disabling them from flying. Factory wastes such as chemicals can spread quickly from ground to water streams and can cause diseases in humans and animals. Many items we use may eventually be dumped into the ocean and get caught in birds' or fishes' body causing their death. Marine dumping is thus a serious problem.
